Social Distancing

As the pandemic progressed lockdowns, social distancing and gathering outdoors became a mandate. Susan, Laura and Kathleen looked for a method to continue their practice of drawing together. Susan’s suggested working on six foot pieces of paper to illustrate social distancing. When weather allowed, using magnets, they hung the drawing paper on a garage door, an available outdoor surface that was big enough to hold the paper and worked with the magnets.

To illustrate another element of social distancing, they attached their mark making materials to five-foot bamboo poles. The materials got more creative and included

ink, a charcoal wash created from a nearby fire pit and plant materials taped to the pole to use as brushes.
