Tea Party

The tea bag drawings were a physical expression of the way lives became smaller, limited, during the pandemic. Even at times, to share tea with friends became a question of safety-the feeling of not knowing what was next in terms of variants created an atmosphere of confusion, anxiety, and fear. Sharing the act of individually drawing on the tea bags was similar to having a soothing cup of tea; the anxiety of the pandemic, the way in which our communal lives were becoming smaller, could somehow be realized and softened at the same time in those moments of drawing together. The 2x2 squares and the individual mark making, became a kind of parallel to quilting and sewing circles; the lines and marks the important thread of communal expression.
