Visual Art Faculty Exhibition
Artist's Statement:
I have two mothers; one who gave birth to me then asked others to raise me, one who met me at eleven months old and raised me from then on. I have become a mother twice; the first I asked others to raise the second I am raising myself. These works explore a way of visualizing these intersecting identities. They question the act of looking by means of sharing intimate moments of pain, struggle or joy through the stark realism that photography affords.
